China: Day 7 - Recovery

Sunday, June 12, 2011

After an exhausting 4 days in Beijing, no one was interested in doing much of anything today except lay around and relax.  The kids played movies and video games.  The adults watched TV, downloaded pictures, and slept.

I, on the other hand, needed to make a run to the grocery store.  I was out of everything.  So I slapped on baseball cap and was ready to go.  Chris, Kenneth, Wade and Brooklyn came along.  We were quite the motley crew.

We pass a police station on the way to Thumb Plaza.  Chris needed a picture.

The Carrefour is somewhat intriguing to the son-in-laws.  I don’t think they knew quite what to expect.  I think a bit of an education is not such a bad thing.  When they do the everyday errands with me, they are gaining an understanding of how hard it is when doing the things we never give a thought about back home.

One of the store employees motioned to Chris to stop with the pictures.  So Chris responded… “What ????” and kept right on taking pictures.  The afternoon was almost gone by the time we finished the shopping and the guys finished their looking, so we hopped a cab for a quick way home.

It is time to cook dinner and feed the troops.  I put on the spaghetti sauce and waited.  It was pure torture for the family… they were ready for 2 things…Mom’s cooking and western food.  This would be the meal nobody complained about… and they devoured it.

Another day has clicked past… They are going too fast!
